[ Ever get that feeling like somebody's trying to reach you? Actually that's thanks to the amulet, and that feels a lot like Red, whatever it feels like having Red in your head.
But if Acerola accepts the link, then she'll know! Oh wowie. ]
[It takes a few moments before he receives a response. Having Red in her head involves seeing flashes of red in her periphery. ...Not really. But maybe she'll get some mental glimpses of his face.]
I'm gardening! ...Sort of.
[Red gets a nice glimpse of Acerola burying some objects that look like sparkly pebbles in a garden.]
These are for Sableye to find. She likes the idea of going out to scavenge for gems, but there aren't any so I just bury them for her.
No, not yet! ...I was going to say I still needed to get used to this city before I visited others, but -- I guess I've been here pretty long now. I was down in Sharnaath a few weeks back!
Everyone else is doing good! ...Dhelmise went to hide in the lake and scare boaters a few days ago and hasn't come back yet... But that's pretty normal.
Dhelmise? Isn't that the sandcastle one? [ There's too many pokémon-! ] But uh, me and mine are doing fine. Lapras and me decided to start practising how long we can stay in the lake together. ...We haven't done anything really fun in a while though, I guess. Just helping with some of the ice--I can help Charizard make his flames be more effective.
[ Huh, but his mind is wandering a little, before he puts it back on track. ]
But Shaarnath -- did you go down there when the business with Elios happened? That was what I was calling to check up on. I'm a little late, [ about more than a week, ] but I was stuck in a bed for a while. Then I kept getting sidetracked...
Nope! That's Palossand. Dhelmise is the seaweed spirit.
[There is a good chance Red still doesn't know what she's talking about as it is not obvious that Dhelmise is not the anchor, at first glance.]
But yes, that's right! [For a moment, her laughter is a little stilted.] I high-tailed it right on out of here when all of that started. I still don't really know what to do about the Arehtei... Is this something that happens a lot?
[ They're all ghosts, he's going to guess it's a ghost. ]
Uh, well... the last time something like this happened was... when Sosyne arrived, around a year or two ago? Sorta. Aiada tried to keep some spirits settled and that went bad, and then we all decided to go and see Piphron -- but we did that off the island. He didn't actually do anything to us.
[ So, self-inflicted emotional excitement. The line is thoughtful. ]
I guess it doesn't happen often... but we have to be careful and do our best to stop it from happening too, if we can. [ ... ] Are you worried about when it's going to happen again?
[ That's all he gives for a moment, though it comes with a sense of acknowledgement, understanding behind it. Nothing dismissive. Just something until he considers how to go forward. ]
You don't really get used to it. You find ways to deal with it, but it doesn't make the fact it happens any better. And I think it's going to keep happening one way or another, whether it's an Arehtei or something else. That's the state the world's in.
...--oh, but you shouldn't worry! [ The honest tone is replaced by something more flustered, voice quickening over the line. ] I know it sounds bad when I put it that way, but the stuff with Aiada happened ages ago, and nothing big's happened in the city for ages! Just, I think it's a good idea to prepare yourself the best you can, you know? So you're prepared for anything! Even the small things!
[Acerola sits up from where she has been burying pebbles and pats the ground flat.]
I just don't know what to do about it! You can train Pokemon for important battles, you can study for important tests -- but it doesn't seem like there's much to prepare for here. You can know that it's going to happen - that's about it.
I guess I should practice trying to get a better understanding of the things I feel? Maybe I'll keep a diary.
Sorting your feelings out... actually, that's not that bad of an idea.
[ Hmm, how to put this... ]
You can learn a way to protect yourself with dunamis--that's what I learned to do, but it took a long time. Or you try learning how to deal with it over time... sorta like a pokémon getting used to dealing with attacks in a battle. You can't stop every attack from happening, but you learn how to have an answer for it or endure it, right? It's like that. You just need experience.
You're always going to have emotions you're weaker to, but that doesn't mean they have to knock you out in one hit.

...A lot!
[Another awkward laugh.]
Hm... I know how to deal with the normal kind of problem. You know - angry Pokemon or trainers that try to rob the Poke Mart or those kinds of things.
It's hard to deal with problems on the... inside, though. I don't like it when my thoughts are all messed around.
